In young people, hormone imbalance can occur at any age, from the onset of puberty, during periods of stress or ill health, in pregnancy and postpartum through to the start of perimenopause.   

It is easy to berate our own bodies when we feel sub-optimal; feel we are in some way broken, or flawed, but mostly our bodies just respond to it's internal and external environment: the culmination of every piece of information, every factor of your life that influences the body's and whether it will be in balance [what we term homeostasis], or otherwise.     Today, our 24-7 lifestyle, career stress, our vastly increased exposure to environmental toxins and carcinogens, synthetic contraception, poor nutritional uptake, yo-yo dieting or too much caloric restriction, sedentary lifestyle, poor detoxification/elimination and genetic factors, can all create hormonal challenges which can often lead to unwanted consequences for our personal relationship, working life and just our overall health and wellbeing.  We know we are not getting the most out of life, but we feel powerless to change it.

Imbalances to our hormonal & neurological systems often show up often as worsening PMS symptoms and in severe cases PMD; thyroid dysfunction, weight gain or loss, worsening fatigue or burnout, endometriosis, PCOS (Polycystic ovarian syndrome), acne, unwanted hair, heavy periods from fibroids, poor immunity; auto-immune disease, and many other health conditions.  Not just physical symptoms, we can start to feel moody, anxious, depressed, angry and 'out of control'!   Hormones....let's face it....can make us crazy! 

SADLY, we may not even try to address these until we encounter unfavourable personal outcomes like struggling to get pregnant, or we are so out of sorts at 'certain times of the month' that we fear for our relationships and even ability to work, and we feel our only resort is taking 'the pill' and/or an anti depressant or anxiety medication.
